Ballet Etoile presents "Edith Piaf" - a tragically romantic biography of famed 1940's singer told through contemporary dance, live singing and dramatic theatre. "Edith Piaf" is a unique show that satisfies audience members both visually and emotionally. This ballet drama shows several episodes from the life of the famous French chansonniere and attempts to bring the phenomenon of Piaf closer to the audience: her life on the streets of Paris; first professional success; her misfortune in love and her fall from grace; alcohol and drug problems and her return to the stage. The well-known chansons are sung in the original French by special guest Melissa Bibliowicz.

Strauss's described his tone poem Macbeth as "a completely new path" for him compositionally. Strauss displays musical portraits of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, a musical reminder of the ambition, madness, and greatness that characterizes Macbeth. Pohjola's Daughter was inspired by Finland's national epic, the Kalevala and the exploits of the heroes Kullervo and Lemmink�inen. Lemmink�inen is celebrated for his conquest of Kyllikki and the maidens of Saari as well as his visit to Tuonela, the Land of Death. Eroticism has its place in this vast collection, and so does humor.

Sounds easy, but can Pinkalicious stay away from those yummy pink treats? Based on the wildly popular book series, Pinkalicious is a color treat for all.

ERIC FERRAND-N'KAOUA

The second of Four Classical Sundays at Five in The Aventura Cultural Series presents Eric Ferrand-N'Kaoua of France. The program from European Romanticism to American Romance is a tribute to Art Tatum culminating in a journey through the works of Mendelssohn, Liszt, Debussy, Ravel, and Gershwin. Critics have often praised Mr. Ferrand-N'Kaoua natural sense of phrasing and colour, as well as his ability to bring the music to the foreground, rather than himself. Eric Ferrand-N'Kaoua has performed with the New Japan Philharmonic and several other Japanese orchestras. He often gives broadcast recitals in Europe and has performed in prestigious concert halls like the The�tre du Ch�telet (Paris) or Wigmore Hall (London). Mr. Ferrand-N'Kaoua's collaborations with musicians from Eastern Europe, such as the USSR State Symphony Orchestra and the Moscow Soloists conducted by Yuri Bashmet, has launched him on several concert tours in the former USSR, including Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Ekaterinburg and Kiev.
